About
The two-fold mission of Seven Miles From Jerusalem is to bring young adults, ages 18-24, to the Holy Land fir ab encounter with Jesus the Lord, and to support the minority Christian community in the Holy Land with business support and charity.
"The visit to Emmaus on the last day was really special. It was a big encouragement that although we were leaving the Holy Land, we were not leaving behind our encounter with God, and a great reminder to share what we experienced." - R.B.
Go on Pilgrimage
Every trip organized by Seven Miles From Jerusalem is a pilgrimage on which we journey together to sacred places. This exterior journey helps bring together a new community centered around Christ, and the exterior encounter with sacred places helps lead to an encounter with our risen Lord Jesus Christ. Many participants have discovered a deeper faith life and others have become Catholic due to their pilgrimage.
"It seemed far easier to ardently focus on the scriptures whilst in the Holy Land, and I'm thankful that I find it easier to read the Bible with some of that extra keenness having returned from the trip. I now pray the Angelus more frequently. One of the lasting, more personal, take homes from the trip is that Jesus is truly, really, present." - P.B.K.
Support Christians
Seven Miles From Jerusalem supports the Christian communities of the Holy Land in multiple ways. In addition to employing Christian tour companies and visiting Catholic institutions. Seven Miles encourages the young people to solicit donations prior to the trip to help their brothers and sisters in Christ. Listed below are some who have been helped by our trips.
$500 to The Roman Catholic Parish of the Beheading of St. John the Baptist, Madaba Jordan
$1,000 to The Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem to support the priests and its mission
$1,800 in Mass stipends for the upkeep of the Churches
$6,000 to The Crèche Orphanage (Bethlehem)
20 suitcases filled with medicine, vitamins, baby clothes, and diapers for the Crèche Orphanage (Bethlehem)
"Our visit to the Crèche Orphanage was heart-breaking yet it was so beautiful to see how the sisters there do such a wonderful job raising and caring for the kids. The Crèche made me realize how fortunate we really are here and that it's an obligation for us to do more to help support." - A.G.
Provide Opportunities
Most young people cannot afford a pilgrimage, nor would they go to the Holy Land on their own. Seven Miles From Jerusalem provides them an opportunity to go on these pilgrimages with other young adults by organizing the trips and providing financial support.
"I really do not have the writting skills to express just how grateful I am for this trip. By removing financial barriers, this trip allowed me to explore my faith, my values, and a new part of the world in a loving and safe environment. This trip increased my love for travel a thousand-fold because there really are good people everywhere - even when current times are trying or bad." - S.C.
